When setting up a UPS account for Rate Shopping that should include UPS Mail Innovations services, there are additional elements you need to take into account compared to a regular Rate Shopping setup.
This article is supplementary to the regular setup detailed in the UPS Billing Account Setup article and it considers that the account has already been set up and created for domestic shipments.
There are three main points addressed in this article:
- Baseline Account setup
- Shipping data requirements
- Associated setup for data compliance
BASELINE ACCOUNT SETUP
For UPS Mail Innovations services to be requested, it is necessary that the Baseline Account has the following fields properly configured:
SHIPPING DATA REQUIREMENTS
For a UPS Mail Innovations shipment to be properly rated, it requires:
- Weight: Weight in the order are mandatory
- Dimensions: Dimensions in the order are mandatory
- Package type: It should be selected and explicit, depending on the order weight, if less than 1LB should be irregular but if equal or greater than 1 LB should be Parcel Post.
ASSOCIATED SETUP FOR DATA COMPLIANCE
To configure Rate Shopping for Mail Innovations properly you will have to:
1. Access Clients under the Maintenance menu
2. Click on the client related to the order
3. Edit the Billing Account (Carrier) related to the order and error
4. Check Enable Rate Shopping in the General Options section
5. Select the Carrier Options tab
6. Select the Package Type as applicable based on the information from the previous section
7. Check Rate Shop Mail Innovations to request rates for Mail Innovations services, and optionally, check Skip Generic UPS Rateshop if you need to speed up rate shopping by ignoring regular UPS services
8. Select the proper USPS Service Endorsement if and as applicable
9. Press Save to apply the changes
If the rest of the order information is correct, you will be able to Rate Shop, Process or Process and Print.
